• Luther Ridge Church Day Buffet
   Wednesday, March 10, 2010   12:00 pm
The next Luther Ridge Church Day Buffet is scheduled for Wednesday, March 10th at noon at the Fleck Center. Remember to call ahead for reservations no later than March 5th. [Close]
• Congregations Together In Mission
   Saturday, March 13, 2010
The Lower Susquehanna Synod will host this year's Congregations Together in Mission on Saturday, March 13th at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover. This year's keynote speaker is Barbara Rossing, a professor of the New Testament at Lutheran School of Theology, Chicago. In addition to the Keynote address, practical workshops for lay and rostered leader, teachers, and people who want to know more about the Bible are scheduled throughout the day. A Worship Service of Word and Sacrament with Bishop Hoover preaching will conclude the day's events. A brochure listing all of the workshops and registration forms may be found on the narthex table. Cost of registration per participant is $30.00. The deadline for registration with the Synod office is February 26th. [Close]
• Pastor Kumbuka Mwasanguti Visit
   Sunday, March 14, 2010   8:45 am
Pastor Kumbuka Mwasanguti, a seminary student in Gettysburg and a pastor in the Konde Diocese, Tanzania, will be sharing information about his life and culture with all Sunday School classes on March 14th at 8:45 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend. [Close]
• Women of the ELCA Meeting

The Women of the ELCA will hold their March meeting on Sunday, March 14th at 2:15 p.m. in the multi-purpose room at Luther Ridge Manor. All women of St. Luke are invited to attend. [Close]
• Bible Study for the Manor
   Sunday, March 14, 2010   3:00 pm
The Bible study for March will be held on March 14th at Luther Ridge Manor at 3:00 p.m. All members of the congregation are invited to attend. We continue with the topic of prayer with this month's session titled "Intercession: Praying for Others". Refreshments will be served. [Close]
• Pork And Sauerkraut Supper
   Monday, March 15, 2010   5:00 pm
The Chambersburg Auxiliary to Lutheran Social Services will hold a Pork and Sauerkraut Supper on Monday, March 15th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at First Lutheran church, 43 W. Washington St., Chambersburg. The cost is $7.00 for adults, $3.00 for children and children under 3 are free. All tickets will be sold at the door. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit the programs of LSS in Franklin and Fulton Counties. [Close]
• Wellness Talk
   Thursday, March 18, 2010   10:00 am
The next Wellness Talk at Luther Ridge will be on "seasonal allergies" and is scheduled for Thursday, March 18th at 10:00 a.m. at the Fleck Center. It is free and open to the public. [Close]
• Reception of New Members
   Sunday, April 25, 2010   10:00 am
Spring reception of new members has been scheduled for Sunday, April 25th. If you or someone you know is interested in joining St. Luke, please talk to Pastor Beth to begin the necessary preparation. [Close]

• 2010 Flower Chart
The 2010 Flower chart is on the hallway bulletin board. We need two sponsors per Sunday unless someone chooses to sponsor both vases. Please, if you can sponsor flowers, be sure to sign up on the flower chart and submit a wording form for the bulletin announcement. [Close]
• Centering Prayer
Centering Prayer meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month (check the calendar) at 7:00 p.m. in the Parlor. Anyone wishing to experience this form of meditative prayer is welcome. If you have questions, ask Judith Schwenk. [Close]
• Easter Donations
St. Luke is again offering options for honoring or memorializing for Easter. Options available are: Purchase lilies at a cost of $9.25 a plant for the nave; give a donation to The House of Grace; give a donation to Franklin County Jail Ministry; or choose a combination of these three options. The last date to order lilies will be March 14th. Place your payment along with the order form in the basket on the narthex table. Checks should be payable to St. Luke. [Close]
• Summer Camping Opportunities
Lutheran Camping Corporation Brochures are available on the table inside the education entrance or from Pastor Beth. Nawakwa Counselor Kyle Purnell is leading a Magic Camp at Nawakwa this sumemr! Camp Scholarship requirements are posted on the camp portion of the bulletin board across from the office. Please let Anita Walter or Lynn Fry know if you'd like to apply for a scholarship by Wednesday, March 24th. [Close]
• Mid-week Services During Lent
     7:00 pm
Mid-week services will be held at 7:00 each Wednesday during Lent until Holy Week. Come and join us as we walk the valley of the shadow with Jesus. [Close]
• Sam's Club
Sam's Program at the YMCA continues to meet every Tuesday. Please keep those snacks coming and we are also needing the following items: snack bags, juice pouches, disinfecting wipes (for wiping the tables) and liquid hand sanitizer. Thank you to all who help with this project. [Close]
• Volunteer for Opening Devotions?
Sunday School Opening Devotions are held monthly through the academic year. The Family and Youth Ed Committee would like to expand the opportunity for youth and adults to provide this 10-minute devotion. Currently the Sunday School classes have taken the responsibility. We now invite families and groups of 2 or 3 individuals to volunteer to provide the devotions. Please see Anita Walter or Lynn Fry if you would like to volunteer or learn more. Resources are available. We have openings beginning in January 2010 and running through June 2010. Thank you for your prayerful consideration. [Close]
• Campus Connection
Does your college or technical student have the same address as last year? We'd like to include everyone in this year's Campus Connection program. If you (or a member of your family) is attending college or a technical school this fall please share your (their) name and school address with the church office or Lynn Fry. [Close]
• Pastor Beth Needs To Know ...
... if someone in your family is hospitalized, so she can provide pastoral care. Don't assume someone else will tell her--you need to let her know. [Close]
• Health Kits for Haiti
St. Luke is responding to the urgent call for health kits from Lutheran World Relief to replace their supplies which have all been sent to Haiti. Instructions on how to prepare the kits are on the narthex table and the completed kits should be returned to the boxes in the Sunday School entrance by Palm Sunday. [Close]
• Neighbors Are Connecting
More than 130 people participated in the first round of "Neighbors Connecting" gatherings. There are additional activities and opportunities being planned by the respective groups. What a great start to this new project! If you haven't yet tried it, you are always welcome at the next gathering of your group. [Close]
• Church Library Task Force
The Family and Youth Education Committee is seeking volunteers to initiate a task force to work with our church library. Our library has become overcrowded and in need of some thoughtful evaluation and discussion. It would be helpful if volunteers had some library or education experience; however, anyone is welcome to serve. Please see Anita Walter or Lynn Fry if you would like to become involved. [Close]
• Remember Our Shut-ins
A list of our current home-bound members or those not able to come to church appears in the December newsletter. You are encouraged to remember them with cards and visits during the holiday season. [Close]
• Volunteer Drivers Needed
Touch-a-Life, a Faith in Action program of Lutheran Social Services of South Central PA, provides volunteer services to individuals and families with specific short-term needs. Volunteers are needed to provide local or long-distance transportation, run errands, or provide respite care for caregivers. • Worship Assistants Needed
Volunteers are needed to help with worship services at The Inn at Luther Ridge. Worship services are held each Thursday afternoon at 1:15 p.m. and each Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. Volunteers light the candies, collect the offering, and on Sundays set up and assist with Communion. They may choose which service they would like to serve and are scheduled to help once every five or six weeks. Training is provided. • Blood Donors Wanted
There is always a need for blood. Check the Blood Drive Schedule for upcoming opportunities to donate. [Close]
• Hospice Bereavement Bread
Hospice needs Bereavement Bread. Please bake any kind of bread, (pumpkin, blueberry, cranberry, etc.), wrap in plastic wrap and aluminum foil, and mark each loaf with the kind and if it contains nuts. Put the bread in the freezer in the kitchen. If you have any questions, please see Georgia Hoffeditz. [Close]
